Find Relief From Your Sunburn
Getting a sunburn can quickly put an end to your fun. Between the pain and the blisters, you can grow absolutely miserable, as the sunburn slowly makes you feel as though you’re on fire. Fortunately, there are some ways to ease the pain if you do experience a sunburn.
First, when you get home and realize you have a burn, grab a cool—not cold—compress and place it on your sunburned skin. If possible, you may also want to try take a cool shower or bath in order to help you remove some of the heat from your skin.
For those who are able to take a bath, try adding one cup of apple cider vinegar to your bath water to help take the sting out of your sunburn, as well as help the skin heal faster.
If you don’t have any apple cider vinegar on hand, see if you have any plain oatmeal around the house. Taking an oatmeal bath can be particularly soothing and helpful if your skin itches after a sunburn.
When you get out of the bath or shower, apply lotion to moisturize the skin. If you have a product containing aloe, that will be soothing. You may find particular relief from placing your aloe lotion in the refrigerator for a little while before applying.
Finally, make sure you stay hydrated. When you have a sunburn, your skin in the area is dry and dehydrated. Water is the best way to help replenish the hydration that is lost from suffering a sunburn.
