When Should I See a Doctor?

If your sore throat hasn’t improved within 48 hours or has gotten worse, now’s the time to seek medical attention. If you have strep throat, the infection is highly contagious, so getting a diagnosis and beginning antibiotic therapy is important.

At-home Treatment for Strep Throat

• Drink plenty of fluids.
• Gargle with warm salt water.
• Try OTC pain relievers or throat lozenges.
• Get plenty of rest and quality sleep.
• Use a humidifier to increase moisture in the air.
